Invited Lecture by Heather Mills: “Overcoming adversity and living with a disability”
Heather Mills started her business career at the age of 14. In the 1990s she moved to former Yugoslavia and became involved in the Balkan Crisis. This was the start of her Charity and Campaigning career, with a refugee crisis centre in London. Heather’s road traffic accident 1993 in the UK, resulting in the loss of her lower leg, a fractured skull, a crushed pelvis and ribs, and a punctured lung, encouraged her to not give up and to develop with her team prosthetic limbs for running, skiing and ice dancing.
“Overcoming adversity and living with a disability”
Sunday, April 24th, 2016
12:00 – 12:30 p.m.
The honorarium will be donated to Diakoniewerk Schladming, an institution dedicated to caring for people with disabilities and the elderly. To further raise the sum, donation boxes will be set up at the registration throughout the congress, as well as during the Special Lecture.
Heather Mills says:
“It is vital that surgeons fully understand when to amputate and when to save the limb and what length of the limb should be amputated for the perfect fitting prosthesis. I overcame my adversity and inspired millions around the world to try and overcome their misfortune. I’m forever grateful for the team of doctors that saved my life.“
