Welcome to the official website of the European Society of Trauma and Emergency Surgery. During the 10th European Congress of Trauma and Emergency Surgery, which took place in Antalya, Turkey from May 14th to 17th of this year, the executive board and general assembly appointed me as their new President till the next Congress, which will take place in Brussels from May 16th till May 18th 2010.
I feel very honoured with this new task, as it expresses a big trust in my person. Certainly, this nomination is also connected with huge expectations towards the further evolution of our new Society. The rapid expansion of ESTES – this year we probably will welcome the 19th and 20th corporate member –, the growing number of individual members and the increasing interest for our Journal “European Journal of Trauma and Emergency Surgery” impressively reflect the big interest in harmonisation and high standard training in trauma and acute care surgery in our member countries.
