Project on Gender Equity

The ESTES Gender Equity Task Force was created in 2021 to advocate for gender equity in Trauma and Emergency Surgery all over Europe. This approach acknowledges that women are underrepresented in ESTES and at leadership and academic positions.

Our aim is to provide an equal playing field for men and women in our Society promoting mentorship and networking for European surgeons regardless of gender.

Women and men may experience gender inequity in their professional career preventing them from a full professional development in Trauma and Emergency Surgery. Disparities in social and cultural environments between European countries lead to different challenges facing specially women as medical students, surgery trainees, trauma and emergency surgeons and in leadership roles.

To substantiate the current impact of gender induced biases in the European trauma and emergency community and convert the intuition of its existence into data, we kindly ask you to disseminate and complete the following survey. It will take you no more than 5 minutes.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
