ECTES 2018 starts in:

European Trauma Course

The European Trauma Course (ETC) is a joint initiative of four institutions:

  • European Resuscitation Council (ERC)
  • European Society for Trauma and Emergency Surgery (ESTES)
  • European Society for Emergency Medicine (EuSEM)
  • European Society of Anaesthesiology (ESA)

Who is the target group?

  • The ETC is targeted at doctors from all specialties and other highly qualified health care professionals (eg. advanced nurse practitioners, critical care paramedics etc.) who treat major trauma patients in their daily practice
  • It is an advanced course and candidates must have experience in treating major trauma patients before they attend a course.

Why should you attend the course?

  • The ETC is an innovative 2.5 days Life Support Course for doctors and non-medical health care professionals that are involved in the acute care of major trauma patients.
  • ETC provides state-of-the-art trauma training with a strong focus on team work and non-technical skills.
  • The ETC is a hands-on course and candidates spend 85 % of their time working practically in scenario-based workshops.
  • Candidates are trained in small groups resembling trauma teams working in a shock room environment.
  • The ETC is certified by all partner societies.
  • The ETC is the only internationally accredited trauma course that trains doctors and non-medical health care professionals side by side in multi-specialty teams.

To facilitate the international implementation and further development of the programme, the four ETC partner societies ERC, ESTES, EuSEM and ESA have formalised their cooperation and founded the European Trauma Course Organisation (ETCO).
